I find most of the time, many good people fall into a trap. It is the ego of helping people. Well, I do fall for it! I did.
Many of us hide our own inability to trust and being resilient by a veneer of “not being a burden”. It’s a false sense of comfort when we come face-to-face with our own conscience of not being actually helpful. It is the fear of self-preservation which drives us to be “closed” and emotionally constipated, and it is within us. It is not outside. It is the fear of loosing yourself that drives the “emotional repressions”. And it is our ego of being a respectable person that never allows us to accept the mistakes we make. But the fact is, unless we accept that we made a mistake, we do not accept ourselves. Accepting is not self-blaming. It is the first step of being healed. Most of us do not simply take that path.
But that never ends or resolves any problems. Unless we address the issues inside us, it never will go away. One problem you duck – another sneaks in.
Unless you are constantly ready to confront your thoughts and feelings, you never solve any of your problems.
So, am I helping somebody by being closed and repressed – NO! I am just massaging my own ego and delusion of being helpful! In reality, I am hurting those who believed in and loved me.
